After drinks at a favorite Chicago hang-out, Danny Martin and Debbie Sullivan head to Danny's place to indulge in the predictable single's quest--the on-night stand. Their affair is casual, sensual, and supposedly over until something happens. They want to see each other again. It's the start of an intense relationship that irritates Danny's rowdy best friend and astounds Debbie's cynical rowdy buddy/roomie, who do everything possible to break them up. Paperback / softback. Elizabeth Angier was happy to be at the end of the school year. She thought her summer on the family farm would be full of work and play with her best friend, Rachel, and her other best friend, her dog, Maizey. However, Elizabeth didn't anticipate the Harmony Farms Corporation moving to her town. Her world starts to crumble as her best friend moves away and her parents whisper of farmers selling their land and the effects this factory farm operation could have on them. When she thinks things can't get much worse, she meets the most unusual creature, Gaia, the living entity of the Earth. Strange things begin to happen to her, around her, and through her! Elizabeth discovers that with these new powers comes responsibility. A dire mistake makes Elizabeth wonder if meeting Gaia has been a blessing or a curse. Will Elizabeth have the strength to fight a large corporation? Or will her upstate New York home be spoiled by profit driven pork production that fouls the air, land, and water? "A Silver Link book from the Nostalgia Collection"--Page 4 of cover. "Part screwball comedy and part SF adventure, Deauxville's latest (after Strangers in the Night) attempts to put a new spin on the contemporary romance genre by sending a handsome male from a far-away solar system to occupy the body of New York advertising artist Maryellen Caswell. Unfortunately, the resulting story is riddled with outrageous characters, tiresome histrionics and unbelievable plot twists. Maryellen wakes up one morning alarmingly aware that something strange is happening to her. She soon learns that her body has been possessed by Sub Commander Targon, whose pals in the Intergalactic Transport system back home have zapped him to Styrex Three (Earth) as a joke. No one believes Maryellen, including her wealthy sister, who sends her to see Dr. Dzhugashvili, a psychiatrist with a special interest in UFOs. Viewing Targon as the opportunity of a lifetime, Dzhugashvili and his group of Star Wars and Star Trek wannabes plan to kidnap him. A sub plot involving an FBI agent on Targon's tail holds some surprises, but the bizarre finale, which takes place in Shea Stadium, stretches the reader's imagination to the snapping point. With a story line better suited for B movies, this absurd tale won't hold much appeal for either SF or romance fans. (Feb.)romance writer."--Publishers Weekly. "Lucas Books"--Page 4 of cover.
